- In 1969, COLDEX AG was founded by Dr. Martin Dipper. At this time, he was already operating a large extrusion plant in Rottenburg, Germany (known today as Neuman Aluminum). COLDEX’s focuses were concentrated on the Swiss market. It manufactured, as it still does today, mainly technical extrusions.
- Around the year 2000, the manager, Ernst Lerch, took over operations. The company was transforming itself into an independent and autonomous Swiss SME. The acquisition by Mr. Lerch was also accompanied by a change in business policy: COLDEX would expand its export business as well as increasing investments in its CNC production. Today, the export share is about 50%.
- In 2006, Paul Schaufelbühl took over the majority of shares in COLDEX and subsequently 100% of all shares in 2008.
- The following years were marked by the financial crisis (2009) and the subsequent European Debt Crisis (2010/11). It was a very hard time for the small impact extrusion company.
- In 2012, Richard Egger was appointed to the Board of Directors, taking over 20% of the shares. He supports the company as an investor and a mentor.
- Today, COLDEX AG offers a wide range of technical extrusion products and supplies to well-known companies in Germany and abroad. Core competence in in our own toolmaking and complex post-processing is what makes extrusion technology work.
- Compared to its market competitors, COLDEX AG is a very small supplier that concentrates on niche products and small and medium-sized production batches.
- Today, as a healthy Swiss SME, the company makes a valuable contribution to the preservation of technology diversity in Switzerland.
- In May 2019, Coldex celebrated its 50th anniversary.
- At the beginning of October 2022, Tomasz Schedlin will take over Coldex AG. The former owner Paul Schaufelbühl is taking his well-deserved retirement.
